Little Blue Budgie

Flensted Mobiles

In 1953 Christian Flensted made his first mobile to celebrate the christening of his daughter - He cut out three storks, mounted them in two straws, and the first Flensted Mobile was made!
A Flensted mobile is made from a perfect combination of love, dedication and quality, bringing a unique design into your home - and helping you to unwind at the same time!

Flensted Mobiles is now a family business through three generations.
Grethe & Christian Flensted stood at the helm for 28 years since 1954. In 1982 their son Ole Flensted and his wife Aase took over and ran the company for 35 years and in 2017, on Hans Christian Andersen's birthday (the 2nd of April) the business was handed over to their daughter, Christine Kit Flensted.

Flensted Mobiles are not only designed in Denmark - they are Made in Denmark, assembled by our 60 homeworkers spread over Funen - the island of Hans Christian Andersen.

In the fast-paced world in which we live, we put a lot of energy into fulfilling our hopes and dreams. In order to do so, we must gather strength and unwind, so that we can fully seize the moment.
The mobile simply creates inner peace, when it with its graceful and almost therapeutic and calm movements lets you unwind.

"The mobile's life is hanging by a thread
But tells us how to get a peaceful mind.
The goal of life is not to be ahead.
It's rather time to feel how threads are twined"
                                    Chr. Flensted 1973

Balloons Mobile

Five balloons in beautiful bright colours, adding life to every room.

The festive balloon-mobile is inspired by the "Montgolfières" of the 18th century and modern hot air balloons of today.

A plate showing famous balloons, beginning with the first Montgolfière from 1783 and ending with "Double Eagle II" from 1978 is enclosed in the box.

The mobile was made in collaboration between Ole and Christine Kit Flensted, and Aase Flensted gave the mobile its name. As a musical term, "Counterpoint" is defined as "the combination of two or more independent melodies into a single harmonic texture in which each retains its linear character" much like the family cooperation in Flensted Mobiles.
